Abstract
Electro-heat techniques are techniques that use electricity and convert it into thermal energy. Within these there is microwave heating.
Due to the intrinsic nature of microwave heating it is possible to increase the temperature of the materials to be processed in a quick, selective and volumetric way.
In this work microwave heating was used in order to synthesize intermetallic compounds and functional metal alloys.
In particular, the following materials and the following synthesis routes were studied:
• AlFe2B2 magneto-caloric compound obtained by microwave assisted combustion synthesis.
• Ni-Mn-Sn (Heusler Alloy) magnetocaloric alloy made by microwave-assisted melting.
• Porous intermetallic NiTi obtained by microwave assisted combustion synthesis.
• Ni / NiO compound obtained by solution combustion synthesis (SCS).
