The recent worldwide spread of hybrid technology for automotive vehicles reflects, first of all, the willingness to pay critical attention to the CO2 emissions caused by cars, which are in part responsible for the tremendous climate changement we are seeing nowadays. Moreover, there is the will of improving safety on board and for the driver too, making electronic an active part of the driving experience, helpful to reduce the risks linked to human errors and car issues. Finally, the role played by Formula One enhanced turbo-hybrid technology, given the fact that the motorsport leader set it up on its vehicles since 2014, launching a new era both for motorsport and automotive industry. The goal of this thesis is to analyse the role played by Formula One in the improvement of this technology and the perception people have about it and overall about the technology itself. To study this aspect, an online questionnaire based on the Technology Acceptance Model, which is an information system theory that shapes how users come to accept and use a technology, have been built. It has been submitted by the possible users of this tecnhology and, on this basis, an Excel dataset was created and it has been analyzed through the use of Smart PLS software. The results based on the model suggest that Formula One is playing an active role in the spread of this new kind of car, in addition to the positive perception people have about hybrid technology, especially for what concerns the safeguard of the environment and the comfort deriving from price sensitivity and ease of use. It seems that hybrid vehicles will positively affect the automotive industry, which is likely to see a boost concerning its sales and its renewed image. This will be caused also by the many changes that have been set up by Formula One in order to improve hybrid efficiency and reliability.
