Riassunto analitico
The Design Thinking (DT) method has been studied and used in different field since its early adoptions in 1980s as “Design as a way of thinking”, (Simon, 1969). It consists of a human-centred practice which helps to solve problems in different fields and has a considerate variety of applications (Nielsen, Stovang, 2015). Its focus is on creating value through a creative, innovative approach thriving to generate constantly new solutions and exploring alternatives not focusing on the existing alternatives, going beyond the starting traditional field of application. Nowadays its importance is underlined not only thanks to the results of innovative and disruptive solutions created consequently to the application of this approach in the development of new business ideas within companies, but also thanks to the studies and applications in different university contexts. It, Business, Medicine and Education are only some examples of the various application fields. Several are the authors which study the connection between Design Thinking and entrepreneurship, (Stevenson, 2000; Nielsen and Stovang, 2015; Afreen and David, 2017; Paparo, Dosi, and Vignoli, 2018). What emerges from their researches is that Design Thinking and entrepreneurship are complementary although might differ in various applications. But when analysing in more detail the factors identification in a DT mindset application and its evaluation, researchers underline the difficulties emerged in the evaluation of DT projects’ outcomes. For this reason, the aim of this research project is to fill this gap in the definition of value of Design Thinking and especially its importance when pushing an entrepreneurial mindset. Seen, in fact, from different literature the presence of a high connection among the two mindsets, main research questions are: Which are the key factors enabling a design thinking mindset and an entrepreneurial one? Are they connected? And if so, is it possible to measure their impact on entrepreneurial intention?
