Riassunto analitico
This study aims to gain insight into the factors that may influence the intention of medical personnel working in emergency departments to leave their current role. The research will focus on hospitals in Emilia Romagna. A systematic literature review was conducted with the aim of adquiring a general overview of the topic from the perspective of the main scholars in the field. In order to develop the research, the authors drew upon the JD-R (Job Demands-Resources) model, which was first proposed by Bakker and Demerouti (2007). In order to construct the JD-R model, job demands were identified from the literature. These were elements that could potentially lead to a desire to leave the emergency department, for example, violence towards staff. In contrast, job resources were identified as elements that could help to decrease the desire to leave the emergency department. These included, for example, a friendly climate between colleagues. Subsequently, a qualitative analysis was conducted through semi-structured interviews with medical staff, including doctors, nurses and healthcare assistants who had experience of working in the emergency department. Finally, the results obtained with the two applied methods are compared: SLR and structured interviews. This comparison will highlight both the similarities and the main differences between the two models.
