Riassunto analitico
This dissertation entitled 'From the 1951 Convention to the Charter of Rome: protecting and communicating human rights of migrants in today's Europe' aims at illustrating the fundamental rights of migrants in today's Europe and at highlighting the difficulties encountered in the recognition of these rights. The 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees, which defines the refugee and the rights that protect him or her as a vulnerable person, is crucial in this regard. The concept of refugee vulnerability, along with the concept of dignity, is later developed in the context of media communication, where the refugee image is negatively denoted. In this regard, the notion of human dignity in refugees is required in order to be free of stereotypes and prejudices that feed adverse perceptions of the immigration issue.
