Riassunto analitico
In the first part of the thesis a brief introduction to the worldline formalism is presented. It is a particle-based approach that allows to compute quantum field theory (QFT) amplitudes without applying secondo quantization. Worldline formalism is then used to calculate scattering amplitudes of two scalar particles that interact with an arbitrary number of photons (background field). The case of two external photons is considered and the transversality of the amplitude with respect to the photon lines is checked. Then the more complicated case of a nonabelian gauge theory is considered. The worldline path integral needs to be modified with the addition of (anticommuting) auxilary variables in order to guarantee the gauge covariance. Still this allows to get a final formula for the the scattering amplitudes of scalar colored particles with an arbitrary number of gluons. The case with two external gluons is considered and, in particular, it is shown that the amplitude is no more transversal. This comes out due to the lack in the description of gluon self-interaction inside the worldline formalism. |
