Abstract
This paper examines some FDI determinants through an empirical method in order to construct an FDI attractiveness index to rank all the countries considered into the sample.
The determinants object of the empirical analysis have been selected on the basis of the literature review: some of them widely exploited in previous studies, while others not so known, but not less significant.
The study starts from a literature review, it goes into the depth explaining one by one all the selected determinants and before describing the full methodology adopted, it offers a data explorative analysis.
The author has attempted to give a relative independence to each chapter of the paper, even though the reader is kindly invited to follow all the steps of the research in order to better understand what was the study’s scope.
The last part of this study is fully dedicated to the explain what observed in the several countries rankings taken into consideration.
Additionally the paper’s index has been benchmarked with other indexes.
Doing so, it has been highlighted the explanatory power of the FDI attractiveness index.
