Even if it has been ages since the first transoceanic exod took place, in Argentina the recurrence of narrative texts based on the immigration give the sense of how these theme is still actual and prolific in the literature of the country. Furthermore, the issues that this phenomenon has raised are not mitigated or solved yet. The analysis starts from the historic context where in the 19th century the migrant had to assimilate the rules of the new country, that is to say he needed to be perfectly integrated in the new society. In literature, the integration obtained by the main characters meant a long-lost goal. However, this trend changed in the 1980s and there was a new way of seeing the migrant with the Contemporary Migrants Literature. In the Contemporary Migrants Literature the acquisition of the new Argentinian identity didn’t bring a loss of the Italian culture. On the contrary, it brought contamination and cultural enrichment. In this period, the migratory past was re-evaluated and claimed with pride by the migrants. Talking about the structure of the novels of the Contemporary Migrants Literature we can say they have a link with the epic. In fact, with this type of text they have in common the orality but the texts coming from the Contemporary Migrants Literature usually don’t have the same poetic form of the epic. Moreover, these texts focus the attention on the retourn journey that the descendants of the migrants (or the same migrants) do in order see their relatives or their places of origin. It is also important to talk about the role of the immigrant women that has changed over the years; from the nearly absence of the femenine figure in the 19th century to her revaluation in the Contemporary Migrants Literature, where she is the protagonist. The study goes on taking in consideration three texts of the Contemporary Migrants Literature. The first novel Santo Oficio de la Memoria by Mempo Giardinelli; the second one is Antonio Dal Masetto’s book Oscuramente fuertes es la vida which is part of a trilogy about the migration theme (the other two books La tierra incomparable and Cita en Lago Maggiore are also mentioned in this study) and the last one Rúben Tizziani’s El Mar de Olvido. In these texts we can find the elements above mentioned.
