Riassunto analitico
This thesis project has the purpose of investigating the features of gaseous hydrogen as a fuel in an internal combustion engine, in particular the main focus will be the analysis of injection phase. The discussion will start from a general introduction about hydrogen and its properties, which combined with a research in literature will lead to the definition of the case of study. The specific CFD analysis will be performed thanks to AVL Fire software. Starting from a first general simulation realized during a previous thesis project at University of Bologna, the discussion will enter deep in detail about the characteristics of an underexpanded jet. Then it will be defined a set of simulations, thanks to which it will be possible to identify the critical parameters of an hydrogen gaseous injection.
