Nella tesi viene riportato il progetto su cui ho lavorato durante il mio tirocinio formativo presso la società IRETI S.p.A. del Gruppo IREN. Lo studio elaborato nel corso della mia esperienza ha l’obiettivo di contribuire al raggiungimento dell’efficienza nella distribuzione del gas naturale nell’ambito territoriale di Livorno. I risultati ottenuti e le relative reportistiche di questo studio saranno inseriti nella documentazione del bando di gara per l’affidamento in concessione del servizio di distribuzione del gas naturale nell’ambito territoriale di Livorno.
The thesis shows the project I worked on during my internship at the company IRETI S.p.A. of the IREN Group. The study developed during my experience aims to contribute to the achievement of efficiency in the distribution of natural gas in the Livorno area. The results obtained and the related reports of this study will be included in the tender documents for the concession of the natural gas distribution service in the Livorno area. The development of this interesting path has allowed me to get to know the internal corporate structure of IREN and I developed the technical skills suitable for the use of some software, made available by the University. Following an initial phase of data collection and recovery, I developed a quantitative analysis of the data concerning all activities. Once the analysis phase was completed, I switched to the application of forecasting methods in order to obtain, through the execution of dedicated algorithms on the terminal, the forecast of the demand of the municipalities currently not served (of which the necessary and useful data is not available in order to complete the study). Using a dedicated software it was possible to extract the coordinates of all the buildings in the province of Livorno, useful for the forecasting phase of requests for services. Furthermore, with the support of the Xpress solver and the mathematical model available, different solutions have been obtained regarding the possible subdivisions of the territory of the province of Livorno. In particular, the aim is to optimize the service by respecting the safety criteria and the quality of the service to be guaranteed, this is the arrival of an operator at the point where the Emergency Services request was detected no later than 60 minutes from when the call was received. This mathematical model was implemented, elaborating several possible scenarios which were subsequently evaluated and selected based on the most satisfactory parameters. Finally, having identified which might be the best configurations, it was necessary to compare them using a numerical simulator, developed and made available by the Operational Research Group of the Department of Engineering Sciences and Methods of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. The results obtained have been elaborated and compared between the different scenarios applied to evaluate the optimal solution, that is the territorial subdivision that best respects the minimum levels of service required. The study on the Livorno ATEM was later extended to the distribution of natural gas on the Isola d’Elba. In principle, the procedure for completing the Isola d’Elba project was the same, with the exception of some changes in the different phases due to the lack of data.
