Riassunto analitico
The thesis work deals with the internship I sustained in CNH Industrial in the last months. Being part of the industry 4.0 team (Manufacturing Engineering), I followed and carried on a project regarding the Artificial Intelligence implementation at the assembly line of New Holland Modena plant. Thanks to this great experience I have been deeply immersed in the plant shopfloor and had the opportunity of interacting both with blue-collar and with different Plant departments (Quality, Production, ICT, etc.). After a brief introduction on the industrial progress, where is shown how the scenario evolved in the last centuries with a focus on the new 4.0 technologies, I will jump to the final product. Firstly, the drivelines that are being produced in Modena will be presented analyzing the technical specifications. Secondly, the assembly line will be deeply investigated to better understand the process and identify the critical points and the possible improvements. The aim of the Artificial Intelligence is to increase line efficiency, both reducing defects during the assembly process and reducing the time needed to recover the anomalies. As a matter of fact, the two pilots of the tools developed are: 1. Suggest the needed recovery action to rework operators for KO drivelines 2. Perform a root cause analysis, trying to identify the reason of the fault and the working station where it happened Before presenting the project itself, the quality and waste management issue will be technically discussed, analyzing the actual state of art and the different solutions: lots of I4.0 technologies deal with its improvements. Finally, a chapter will be describing how AI has been introduced and which challenges we faced, the first feedbacks from stakeholders and what are the next steps.
