Abstract
This thesis is part of an activity carried out at the OMR Automotive company in Modena.
It deals with the feasibility study and subsequent industrialization of a welded aluminum frame for automotive use.
The work involved the implementation of the assembly process of a chassis for a new Ferrari car.
The goal is to achieve the production of the first chassis by OMR that satisfies all the requests agreed with the customer.
The document presented here consists of three main sections.
In a first introductory part we will talk about aluminum and aluminum products used in the construction of automotive frames, the main processing technologies and tolerances related to them. Particular attention will be dedicated to welding, an essential process for the assembly of the various components.
In the second part the company's core business will be presented with particular regard to the method and the tools used; a description of the frame and of the joining and processing technologies will be provided; the problems encountered with the production and the strategies used to avoid them will be illustrated.
Finally, we will proceed with a detailed analysis of the industrialization phases of the new frame, object of study, including the testing and optimization of the process, up to the validation of the first model.
