Consumers represent an important part of the value chain and they contribute to increase the global waste that comes from the linear take-make-dispose economy. Several are the consequences of the actions from the actors all along the value chain. It is of fundamental importance to preserve the environment and to allow future generations to have the same living opportunities our generation had the chance to have. Thus, it is crucial that also the single consumer believes it can make the difference by changing its everyday consumption practices starting from inside its households. However, there is a gap between the knowledge about sustainable issues and actual pro-environmental behaviours and this represents a significant obstacle that challenges the achievement of sustainable consumption goals. The purpose of this study is to analyse consumption behaviours and wastes inside the households of young adults through a consumption diary for the duration of one week in which they are requested to indicate all the wastes regarding food, gasoline, energy, water and packaging. With the help of consumption diaries, a unique database has been created in order to assess in a rather homogeneous way the wastes. Moreover, a model has been created and tested through a statistical software aiming at reducing the existing gaps about related issues among the literature.
