The COVID-19 epidemic has caused the world’s largest educational interruption in history, affecting approximately 1.6 billion pupils as well as students in over 200 nations. Over 94% of the world’s student population has been impacted by the closure of schools, institutions and other spaces of learning. This has resulted in significant changes in every part of our life. Traditional education techniques have been considerably disrupted by social alienation and limited movement policies. The reopening of schools after the period of restriction will become another question, when many new standard of operating procedures need to be considered to implement. Many scholars have introduced their research on teaching and learning in various ways within the beginning stage of the COVID-19 pandemic. Face-to-face teachings has been phased out at a number of schools, colleges and universities. There is a concern that this situation will continue, maybe more in the future after the losing 2020. This global pandemic has given us the opportunity to make a start for digital leaning introduction. The purpose of this article is to present a comprehensive assessment on the influence of the COVID-19 epidemic online teaching and learning on different aspects and suggest the possible course of action. This is one of the study researching the impact of unexpected change from traditional to distance learning in one of the universities in Italy, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia – UNIMORE because of COVID-19.
