In a progressively competitive automotive industry, quality and time to market have become a key element for company success. In particular, vehicle manufacturers in global economic system need to come up with product that meet customer expectation. Therefore, it is crucial to develop some tools in order to fulfil consumer request in the shortest time along with the highest quality level possible.
Today, more and more companies adopt and implement tools and paradigms that allow to optimize and improve their manufacturing processes. In particular, in automotive industry, tools such as APQP, ISO 9001, IATF 16949, PPAP, lean manufacturing approach are used.
This thesis project will first of all provide a general overview of the main stardards used in automotive for high quality manufacturing systems as ISO 9001, IATF 16949. Then it will focus and apply the well know Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (PFMEA) to the Lamborghini Urus assembly line. To conclude, after ranking and analyzing critical assembly operations, some solutions will be provided in the control plan to overcome technical and human error. Industry 4.0 methods, such as virtual training and virtual assembly, will be included.
