Abstract
The Quality System plays a key role in order to guarantee products and services to the Customer in line with its specifications and competitive, being able to satisfy market demands and also successfully guide the work of all other functions.
The Quality can be understood as a characteristic (conformity to technical specifications) or as value (suitability for use) and it is a relative concept that can be defined in various ways precisely, because it consists of a strongly objective part (the technical aspect must meet the Customer’s specifications), but also of an absolutely subjective part (the aspects that must meet the Customer’s expectation and wishes).
Complex product and processes, such as those related to the production of high-end aluminium chassis, require a high and constant quality level, in order to ensure compliance with the strict structural, geometric and safety constrains.
The Quality System has the task of assuring the quality of a new product in its industrialization process, making sure that all the activities are carried out in order to reach the Start Of Production (S.O.P.) with a product that can be produced without any problems, making therefore emerge the eventual criticalities during its “prototype” phase, helping in this way to the company objective of “continous improvement”.
To this end, the method that acts as a guide in the process of development and industrialization of a new product is the Advanced Product Quality Planning (A.P.Q.P.); its task is to analyze the feasibility of the project, predicting the risk of process failure, allowing to meet all Customer requirements and comply with current regulations.
The aim of the Thesis is to analyze and develop the industrialization of a new Ferrari chassis, specifically the Ferrari Roma, applying the A.P.Q.P. method. An analysis of the improvement of the geometrical and assembly characteristics of the product and implementation of a correct management procedure of the industrialization process has been carried out. After describing the structure and organization of the Company, as well as the frame models made and the production flow, we move on to the description of the A.P.Q.P. methodology and the other quality tools.
It is then explained how these tools were used to industrialize the assigned project, what were the results obtained, comparing the with the industrialization of previous projects in which the A.P.Q.P. method was not used in a complete and efficient way.
This Project was born on the same production line as the F164 project, but with innovative technical and process solutions: the aim is to improve the quality of the entire automatic welding line, intended as a reduction in the quantity and frequency of welding reworks or cold joints, and to obtain a more precise and repetable frame geometry.
