Riassunto analitico
La presente tesi ha come obiettivo quello di analizzare una sentenza di tribunale dall’inglese, lingua di partenza, all’italiano, lingua di arrivo, ponendo così l’attenzione sulle diverse influenze conseguenti implicazioni che i diversi sistemi legali riguardandi i paesi delle due lingua prese ad esame avere avere sulla traduzione stessa. Da una parte abbiamo infatti la versione originale della sentenza in lingua inglese, sviluappata all'interno di un paese appartenente al Common Law, gli stati uniti, dall'altra viene presentata una possibile traduzione in italiano, tenendo in considerazione l'appartenenza dell'italia ad un diverso sistema legale, ovvero quello del Civil Law. Al fine di effettuare quest'analisi è stata presa in considerazione la versione orale della sentenza di Ted Bundy riguardo al caso Chi Omega, per il quale venne poi sentenziato a morte nel 1989. Tale sentenza è stata prima trascritta da un video online, in seguito tradotta in italiano ed infine analizzata e comparata, sia da un punto di vista prettamente linguistico che da un punto di vista culturale, con la sua versione di partenza con il fine di raggiungere gli obiettivi sopra esposti.

Abstract
This dissertation aims to analyse the translation of a judicial sentence from English, as the source language, into Italian, as the target language, thereby focusing on the various influences and subsequent implications that the different legal systems, related to countries whose languages are taken under examination, may have on the translation itself. Indeed, on the one hand, there is the original version of the judgement in English, developed within a country belonging to the Common Law legal system, and, on the other hand, a translation into Italian is presented, considering the fact that Italy belongs to different legal system, namely the Civil Law. In order to carry out this analysis, the oral version on Ted Bundy’s judgement regarding the Chi Omega case, for which he was subsequently sentenced to death, has been selected. This final sentence has been, firstly, transcribed from an online video, then translated into Italian and finally analyzed and compared, both from a linguistic and cultural perspective, with its source version, in order to achieve the aforementioned objectives.
