Successivamente vengono trattati i risultati.

Abstract
Patient transfer is an essential aspect of patient care and is a crucial factor in improving the extant management of patients. Patient transfer can be divided into two sub-classes: inter-hospital and intra-hospital. The former, which refers to moving the patient from one hospital to another may seem more complex but involves only a tiny part of the transfers that are carried out on a typical working day in a hospital. The latter refers to the transfer of a patient from one unit to another in the same hospital. The rise of interest in problems concerning this practice is due mostly to the recent pandemic, which has tightened the link between healthcare and the optimization of processes. In this master thesis, we are discussing another well-known class of problems that go under the name of Personnel Scheduling Problems (PSPs). We start describing the real context at the start of this research project and the company that commissioned the work. Then we show the database structure where the data were gathered, the data manipulation procedures employed to clean the data, and some classification and regression algorithms used. Further, we explain the nature of the PSP and show the mathematical models (Integer Linear Programming) realized to solve the real instances extracted from the original dataset. Results are discussed thereafter. The instances built from the database for each hospital (a full week of seven days and twenty-four hours per each day), are solved to optimality in short time, less than one minute average. At the end, we present conclusions about this research thesis and insights for additional developments.
