Abstract
The super fragment separator (super-RFS) is a two stages in-flight separator that will be built as part of FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research). It is composed by 205 magnets (24 dipoles, 80 quadrupoles, 41 sextupoles, 14 steerer and 46 octupoles)and its main goals are the creation and separations of rare isotope beams as well as mass measurements for very short lived nuclei. CERN magnetic measurement section is in charge of developing and producing the measurement systems needed for assessing the field quality of the pre-series and series of dipoles and multiplets. In particular, the magnetic measurement (MM) section have designed a system based on induction coil sensors longitudinally translated along the dipole aperture (called "translating fluxmeter"). This system is able to measure the longitudinal field profile along different parallel paths. During my year spent in the MM section as technical student, I was in charge, of developing and testing the first translating fluxmeter prototype. This research project will show the whole process that was followed for the realization of this prototype, starting from the design phase up to the validation as measurement device.
