Questo progetto di tesi aveva il compito di migliorare la resistenza e la rigidezza del modellino di aeromobile CY e di creare nuovi high-lift-device, in particolare flap sul trailing edge.
This thesis had the task to improve the strength and the stiffness of the aircraft model CY and to create new high-lift-devices, in particular trailing edge flaps. The argument in discussion was if measurements to improve the performance of a non-flapped wing could be kept also on a flapped wing with typical flap deflections. In particular a series of measurements was executed on the original model CY, in order to become familiar with the test system and with the wind tunnel and to have a base of measurements for comparisons with the consecutive configurations of the aircraft. Then, stiffness and strength were improved by sticking carbon tubes with on the inside of the wings, in order to keep the weight, however there was not weight limitation. Once the stiffness and the strength were satisfied, the flaps were manually realized in order to begin with the real aerodynamic improvements and tests. After having created them, the model CY was tested more times at different angle of attack with different angles of the high-lift-devices, looking how they were reacting. Some improvements were produced in order to make them stiffer. The model was also tested with plastic plates applied between the flaps and the fuselage, in order to observe how the drag of the model can vary.
