Abstract
During the Internship in Maserati S.p.A. a study upon the diagnosis strategy of the GPF (Gasoline Particulate Filter) system has been made, in particular Magneti Marelli and Bosch software logics. The aim of the thesis project was to implement a Simulink model of the GPF system, one for each software, to optimize the strategy of diagnosis of this component.
The starting point were the measurements made on the vehicles: many signals were acquired from Magneti Marelli and Bosch central units, each of which with a possible different raster. Therefore, to recreate on the Simulink environment the same functioning of engine central units, a discretization of time was necessary. This was possible by creating a time scheduler called “Clock”, thanks to the Stateflow function, a Simulink tool. In order to make the model run, incrementing steps of time and counters have been adopted.
The target of this work was to solve possible diagnosis problems and to test new calibrations in a faster way, than making tests on vehicles. Instead of repeating many times same manoeuvres on a car, different configurations could be tested directly within the model, saving time and obtaining more precise calibrations and diagnosis. By experimenting a higher number of possible configurations, the result has been a better diagnosis strategy.
