Abstract
The present dissertation deals with the design of an electronic and control system for an active suspension. The first part focusses on the design of the electronic system, which aims at transferring the current generated by an active suspension to the vehicle's battery. In the second part, the objective is to design the control system of the suspension. The control system chosen for the adjustment is a Hinf Control. In more detail, two targets were chosen and, by means of several tests on Matlab and Simulink, a comparison between two control strategies was possible. The first control strategy optimizes the performance of the suspension and, therefore, it guarantees a higher level of comfort for the passengers. The second control strategy slightly improves the characteristics of the passive suspension; at the same time, it enhances the recovery and final energy storage of this specific project - designed for electric and hybrid vehicles. In the conclusions of this dissertation, an analysis of the possible applications of this system together with a study of the application feasibility and the results of an increase in the autonomy of an electric vehicle are described. |
