This work presents the project developed during a six-month internship in the Model Based Design Department at Toyota Motor Europe (TME). The aim of the project is to develop a CFD methodology to analyse the thermal behaviour of an electric motor with an oil cooling system. The work has been structured into different phases, finishing with the creation of a model able to simulate the real operating condition of the motor. The 3D CFD model has been developed by means of Star CCM+, with the help of JMAG electromagnetic to evaluate the heat losses present in the motor during an actual operating condition. During this project, the models developed are able to detect the oil flow behaviour inside and outside the motor and the temperatures drops in the components.
