With the rise of the Chinese economy in recent years, international trade and enterprise cooperation between China and Italy become more and more frequently. Managing international alliance between China-Italy Company is complicated. This research aims to find a comprehensive and integrated framework from the existing theories about strategic alliance to discuss the alliance management between China and Italy partners. In this paper, at first, a brief account on their current economic outlook is provided and analyzing their commercial trade relationship. It also defines the nature of strategic alliance, introduces alliance formation theories, different alliance types and the life cycle of an international alliance. Then it discusses strategic alliance governance, where trust and control are two important governance mechanisms, by analyzing how they impact the stability and the level of alliance performance, and if they act as substitutes or complements. To this end, the paper build a framework to evaluate a case study about a strategic alliance between a Chinese and an Italian company.
