In the last decades the problem of the pollution of the environment has become crucial, above all the problems related to water which is one of the most important material in the whole globe. Water has always been an underestimated product given that over the history it has always been considered as unlimited, but it is not. This work is about the environmental management, specifically about the water pollution and water management. During the last months there have been studies about all the issues related to the environment and about water, and there has been the analysis of the water management of two Italian companies: De Cecco and Valagro, and both are in Abruzzo. The former is a famous Italian pasta brand, the latter is a multinational company which produces many types of fertilizers. In these analyses there have been interviews about how they use water and what they did and still do in order to save and have a better efficiency and use of this product. In the first chapter of this work, environmental management will be introduced and analysed. The aim of this chapter is to show the main problems in the environment, to see how the environment is taken into consideration in our world and make a general analysis of what it has be done in different countries in the last decades to become eco-friendlier, so it is an analysis of the several regulations and laws through the years and through different parts of the planet. At the end of the chapter, there will be a major analysis of the European directives, laws, and strategies about the environment. Into the second chapter of the present work, there will be the analysis of water management which is an aspect of the environmental management, and it is the focus of this work given that it is also the key point of the case studies that will be introduced in the next chapter. Particularly, this chapter is divided into three big sections: the first one concerns the water pollution which is the first step to take into consideration in order to better understand the water management and the several directives and laws. The second part will discuss the mere water management and at the end, in the last section there will be an analysis about the directives and legal aspect about water. In the third and last part of this work there will be the two case studies. At the beginning there will be an introduction about the two Italian companies De Cecco and Valagro. After that there will be a transcript about what they did and what they are still doing in order to have a constant improvement on the water management. Moreover, there will be the interviews done during the last months, and a small report about AIA (Autorizzazione Integrata Ambientale - Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control) from the region Abruzzo, and ARTA (Agenzia Regionale per la Tutela dell’Ambiente) which is a regional agency to protect and control the environment. The two companies have to respect many points dictated from AIA and ARTA.
