The purpose of this study is to explore the nature of leadership based on skills and behaviors, leadership styles, digital transformation, leadership versus management which necessary for successful leadership in digital era. In the beginning of the paper, theoretical description and brief overview on leadership in digital era has been discussed. It is described which digital leadership skills and behaviors need for leaders in order to cope with a totally new challenging environment caused by digitalization for the organization growth. The study also helps to find out the predicting impact of gender and age on leadership styles in an organizational structure, as well as differences and the complementary aspects related to leadership and management that are being seen as inextricably linked. According to the research the ideas on leadership in the digital age lack of empirical findings and mostly agreed with the viewpoints of business leaders. At the end of the paper the manager of British Petroleum, which has been interviewed on this issue, expresses his opinion on the way they deal with some of the challenges presented by digitalization.
