Riassunto analitico
My research will analyze the internationalization process in family firms. After a first part in which there is the presentation of the theoretical background of the subject, i.e. the various definitions of family firm and its characteristics, the focus moves on the possible approaches to internationalization for such firms. Since it is quite hard to find a clear and specific definition of what family firms are, in the research it has been made a generalization in order to simplify the study: it is assumed that all family firms belong to the category of micro or Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). In the second part of the work, the attention moves on the case study of a SME, Tecnosald Emilia Srl. After the presentation of the evolution of retail industry, the company profile follows together with the description of the product portfolio and a SWOT analysis. Since the firm operates just in the local/national market, the objective of this work is to create a possible internationalization strategy, which gives the possibility to identify a target market, analyze its characteristics and the possible entry modes.
