Oggetto di questa tesi è l’analisi del linguaggio specialistico aziendale.
The aim of this dissertation is to analyse the specialized language of business. The very large extent of the application field of business language has determined the choice to focus the attention on a single high-level business process: the recruitment process. The study covers every phase of the recruitment process, from the publication of the job advertisement to the candidacy, from the job interview to the elaboration of the contract and explores the metamorphoses that occur at the linguistic level in the transition from one phase to another one, as well as the factors from which they arise. The research runs out with a reflection about the importance of language for a rapid and effective transfer of knowledge within a company. Among the materials used for this research are some volumes written by contemporary Italian linguists such as Lubello S., Serianni L., Trifone P. and Antonelli G.. Moreover, of great help were also dated manuals such as Saggi di linguistica generale by Jakobson, a veritable bible of linguistics. The panorama of english linguistics proposed by Koester has also been examined. These studies of linguistics stand for the starting point for developing a research that analyses the still unexplored terrain of the business language of the recruitment process. My research is therefore built on the basis of linguistics but begins to take shape on the one hand through the study of marketing and management manuals and on the other hand thanks to the work experience gained at two different multinational companies. The work experience was a stimulus for the writing of this paper, as well as a great source of information since I took advantage of the acquired knowledge and used as a model for linguistic analysis some documents made available by companies. The results of my study demonstrate the heterogeneity of the specialized business language, whose peculiarities are not ultimately identifiable. It will emerge from this research that business language can take different forms, crossing the line of the obscure aziendalese, dominated by anglicisms, to take over the persuasive tones of the advertising language, to the point of turning into the cold and impersonal language of law.
