Abstract
The main aim of the thesis is to investigate the issue of the evolution of distribution strategies in a multichannel and / or omnichannel perspective, including the motivations, constraints, advantages, disadvantages and opportunities to create synergies through the channels.
The work is divided into four chapters. The first chapter explains the management of distribution channels, the actors of the distribution. The role, functions, decisions, integration and systems of the distribution channel are deepened.
In the second chapter we will describe the traditional and digital distribution channels, deepening the analysis of the multichannel marketing strategy and its evolution. Multichannel marketing refers to the ability to interact with potential customers on various platforms.
The third chapter, instead, describes the omnichannel strategy, its challenges and differences with other marketing strategies. Omnichannel refers to the multi-channel sales approach that offers the customer an integrated shopping experience. The customer can make purchases online from a desktop or mobile device, via telephone or in a traditional store, and the experience will be seamless.
The fourth and last chapter presents the description of the implementation and development of the omnichannel strategy in two companies in different sectors that represent examples of best practices of world excellence: Amazon in E-commerce and Starbucks in the chain of coffee shops.
