Driverless cars are considered among the principal actors of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. According to scholars and economists, the new car generation will not required the human driver intervention, improving, on this way, comfort, safety and performance. Hence under an objective point of view, the driverless car technology should be judged only according to its usefulness. However the consumer does not tend to be a rational subject, considering others factors determining the acceptance of a technology, going beyond the rational decision making. To a complete understanding of this innovation, it is well established that these factors should be taken under consideration. Schoettle and Sivak (2014) proposed a survey to investigate the opinions and general acceptance of AVs (Autonomous Vehicles) and how they change among different states: U.K., U.S., Australia, China, India and Japan. The study takes under examination several key topics wanting to outline the awareness, concerns and the willingness to own or to buy a vehicle. In this paper we have extended the research proposed by the Authors, conducting a face-to-face survey in the Modena area. The 123 respondents have been compared with the results obtained in the others nations.
