The thesis is structured into five chapters. The first chapter introduces and describes in detail the concept of traceability from a theoretical point of view. The second chapter explains the relationship existing between traceability and sustainability, offering an overview of the concepts of corporate sustainability and corporate social responsibility. The third chapter focuses on the industry of interest, namely the fashion industry, by depicting the structure of its supply chains and the implemented traceability strategies. The fourth chapter makes reference to sustainability certifications and to the concept of supplier sustainability management. Finally, the fifth chapter develops the empirical research, based on a series of interviews with different types of companies operating in the apparel sector and on secondary data. The objective of the research is to fill the gaps identified in the literature on the topics addressed.
