Abstract
The aim of this work is to show, thorugh the reports of my fieldwork, how Christian Catholic groups not only stay in, but also try to change, even though slowly and not by means of revolutions, the Church. I will thus focus on the Catholic perspective on homosexuality, especially in the XXth century, to give a brief account of the current opposition between two paradigms: the procreative and the unitive ones; whereas, in fact, the Church stresses the importance of both, but actually often focusing only on the former, LGBT Catholic groups necessarily have to bring forth the latter in order to have their exigencies listened to, i.e., the fact that they may also be recognized the possibility to marry, as well as that they may be also granted the sacrament of marriage, just like heterosexual people do; not within “tomorrow”, of course, but in time, and through reciprocal knowledge, this may become possible. In the second part, I will also focus on new theological currents, such as queer theology.
The second chapter will be about LGBT Christian groups in Italy and what these request, which can mainly be regarded as “pastoral proposals”: the organization of these groups, and the associations these make up, such as “Cammini di Speranza”, can help us understand the issue.
The third chapter regards the themes of visiblity and coming out as a form of truth-revealing event which, by making the individual speak of his/her own tuth, a truth he has non influence upon, since it is the individual the one that is determined by it, and not vice-versa, can reveal the hypocrisies of those who were trying to conceal this truth, and thus destroy them. We will so focus on the parrhesiastic aspects of coming out, and of the effect this may have on the Church, so we may have a more profetic one.
