Abstract
The goal of the project is the investigation of the hygrothermal phenomena associated with the utilization of a particular category of building materials for interior use, recently put on the market, its actual contribution to the behavior of a generic multilayer wall and the synergistic performance of the total wall; the present thesis illustrates the study process and the planning of a product for interior surfaces of vertical opaque walls with favorable properties improving the energy efficiency of the building envelope. In particular, the aim is to implement the material in order to gain benefits in terms of thermal insulation, and, hence, energy saving, and to to prevent or reduce the water vapour condensation on the wall surface and the formation of interstitial water, so as to avoid the appearance of mold on the wall surface; the third and not trivial characteristic of this material is to concentrate the above-described two qualities in a very thin layer of material, belonging to the category of stuccos or paints; this would allow for a very a fast application of the material, thus decreasing tmanpower costs and expanding the applicability of the product to a great variety of applications. The research described in the present work is carried out mainly by numerical means. The modeling approach follows the UNI EN 15026 technical norm, and it is aimed at determining the range of conditions in which the material under investigation is actually effective.
