The study begins by providing an overview about the labor market evolution. It then proceeds with an historical analysis of the intersection between the performance management system and the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion. After the identification of the research questions, the study proposes the systematic literature review processes conducted by the author to investigate the existing literature concerning inclusive practices in performance appraisal processes. Initially, the preliminary systematic literature review examines the research efforts studying the relationship between performance management system and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Subsequently, the study proposes the systematic literature review processes performed by the author for each identity analyzed, including gender, religion, nationality, ethnicity, culture, LGBTQIA+, ability, body size, and age. The purpose of the systematic literature review processes is to identify inclusive practices proposed by scholars for performance appraisals. The study concludes with a proposed model for an inclusive performance management system, while offering insights for practitioners aiming at integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion principles into performance appraisal practices. In addition, the study underlines the literature gaps identified during the research. The analysis of the literature culminated in the elaboration of a hypothetical survey designed to investigate the performance management system adopted by the companies. Specifically, the survey allows to assess and enhance the alignment of the organization with inclusive practices.
