Abstract
The Quality System plays a key role to guide to the success the work of the other functions and to guaarantee competitive products and services to the customer being able to satisfy market demands.
The quality can be understood as a characteristic (according to technical specifications) or as value (suitability for the use) and it is a relative concept that can be defined in several ways, because it consists of a strongly objective part (technical aspects must satisfy the customer’s specifications) but also of an absolutely subjective part (the aspects that must satisfy the client's expectations and desires).
The production of high-end aluminum automotive chassis requires a high and constant quality level, in order to guarantee compliance with the strict structural and safety constraints.
When you want to industrialize a new product, the Quality System has the task of ensuring the quality of himself, ensuring that all the necessary activities are carried out in order to achieve the Start Of Production (S.O.P.) with a product that can be produced without ostacles, in order to emerge any critical issues during the “prototype” phase, helping in this way the company’s mission of continuous improvement.
To this end, the "Advanced Process Quality Planning (APQP)" method acts as a guide in the development and industrialization of a new product, analyzing the feasibility of the project, foreseeing the risks of process "failure", allowing to satisfy all requests of the customer and respect the rules in force.
The aim of the Thesis is to develop and implement an effective and efficient methodology for the industrialization of a new Ferrari chassis, whose name is F173. After describing the structure and organization of the company, including the frame models made and the production flow, we will move on to the description of the APQP methodology and the other quality instruments.
Then it will be explained how these tools were used to industrialize the project assigned to me, what were the results obtained comparing them with the industrialization of previous projects in which the APQP method was not used in a complete and efficient way; finally, future developments will be exposed.
