Riassunto analitico
L'elaborato affronta il concetto di Corporate Governance, analizzandone le origini storiche e l'evoluzione fino ad oggi. Viene dunque esaminato il quadro giuridico di riferimento; dapprima l’attenzione è rivolta al contesto normativo italiano e poi si sussegue un analisi della progressione del Codice di Autodisciplina sia a livello globale che nello specifico, in Italia. Successivamente, il lavoro si concentra sulla struttura e sulle dinamiche del Consiglio di Amministrazione, con particolare attenzione al ruolo dell’Amministratore Delegato. Un approfondimento è dedicato alla co-leadership, tema centrale dell’elaborato, esplorando le teorie collegate e la letteratura scientifica rilevante, con una comparazione geografica tra contesto americano, asiatico ed Europeo. L’ultima parte dell'elaborato è poi dedicata alla ricerca empirica che esamina il legame tra la presenza di co-CEOs e la sostenibilità ambientale, indagando se e come la leadership condivisa possa influenzare le emissioni delle imprese quotate italiane.

Abstract
The thesis addresses the concept of Corporate Governance, analyzing its historical origins and evolution up to the present day. The legal framework is then examined, beginning with a focus on the Italian regulatory context, followed by an analysis of the development of the Corporate Governance Code both globally and specifically within Italy. Subsequently, the work focuses on the structure and dynamics of the Board of Directors, with particular attention to the role of the Chief Executive Officer. An in-depth section is dedicated to co-leadership, the central theme of the thesis, exploring related theories and relevant scientific literature, with a geographical comparison between the American, Asian, and European contexts. The final part of the thesis is devoted to empirical research examining the relationship between the presence of co-CEOs and environmental sustainability, investigating whether and how shared leadership can influence the emissions of publicly traded Italian companies.
