ABSTRACT
JOB SATISFACTION: INFLUENTIAL PERSONAL FACTORS. Shajahan Anvarsha (Matricola No: 104444). Masters in International Management (Department of Economics). Supervisor: Professor Ylenia Curzi. This research has been carried out to determine to find the relationship between job satisfaction and personal variables. This will also discuss the various job facets that determine the job satisfaction of employees. In this study, the influence of various personal factors such as age, gender, Hierarchy and tenure of the job on job satisfaction has been done. An extensive literature research has been carried out for this purpose. The European working conditions survey (6th edition) questionnaire that took place in 2015 has been employed as the main data source (Secondary data). The questionnaire consisted of several questions regarding the demographic variables such as gender, age, marital status and the working and economic conditions of the employees. All the responses from the respondents were collected. SPSS 23.0 statistical software has been used for the analysis of the data in the questionnaire. The frequency of the respondents, percentage and descriptive statistics were determined. Various plots have been employed to illustrate the statistics. The effect of the demographic factors or the factors to be studied on overall job satisfaction has been carried out using various analysis techniques. Since the scale of measurement has been different for different responses, various analyses were conducted (ANOVA, Regression analysis and tests of independence). Data analysis has helped to reveal the influence of various personal as well as other factors that determine job satisfaction. Discussions regarding the influential factors have been done in order to help the future researchers. Moreover, the various jobs facets that cause dissatisfaction have been discussed.
