The purpose of this dissertation is to describe Corporate Foreign Policy (CFP) and to sustain the importance of companies' role in public politics. This methodology addresses economic actors in the management of their publics in a dynamic socio-political environment. Although the importance of CFP has grown enormously in recent years it is often superficially illustrated by literature. For this reason, it is very interesting to introduce and define it. In the first part of this study some of the main political and economic changes, which have led companies to integrate foreign policy into their functions, are outlined. Subsequently, the focus shifts to CFP components and some corporate functions that have objectives compatible with it, such as public relations. In addition, the processes of managing relations with governments, media and interest groups are analysed describing the role of public affairs within the company. Moreover, Corporate Social Responsibility peculiarities are introduced because the object of this research is to emphasize how ethics and sustainability in public relations management can be winning strategies. Finally, the possible consequences of an ineffective CFP are presented taking as examples boycott and sanctions against companies.
