Abstract
The aim of my thesis is trying to analyze and demonstrate the growing extraordinary importance that the good and complex management of certain particular services will have to play in the innovative electric car market, especially by a fundamental actor which is represented by car manufacturers, in order to be able to see an ever greater and rapid conversion to e-mobility. However today, the main obstacles to the rapid spread of completely electric cars are represented by the high prices of the cars themselves, not accessible to the majority of the population and by the fact that recharging stations necessary for the supply of energy are few. Politics plays a first fundamental role globally in supporting e-mobility and there are many countries where funding and incentives are offered for the purchase of electric cars.
As regards Italy in particular, the path is long yet, since our country is still far behind in the global and European rankings, considering the efforts made at the state and municipal level for the development of electric mobility. If incentives are an important support for the push to use electric cars, this is not enough, so other actors must come on stage. Among these, a crucial role must be played by private individuals, especially by car manufacturers who, in order to try to increase the demand for battery-powered vehicles, must now focus on offering a range of mobility services, based on careful analysis of the wishes of the various groups of potential buyers, that is to say market segments. If the request of BEVs is in fact still low, an analysis of those services that may have a potential for the development of e-mobility is a must. First of all, e-stations, that is to say charging points, nowadays mostly offered thanks to municipal and state funding, represent the main service and for this reason they have to increase. Car manufacturers are beginning above all recently to understand how important their major intervention is in providing an ever-increasing number of charging stations.
Another very important and noteworthy service is car sharing, that has diffused especially in recent years and for this very reason has been defined the business of the future: in fact, since it is spreading more and more in the city centers, mainly thanks to its provision mostly by private agencies, thus demonstrating to be appreciated by a large part of the population, offering enormous advantages for a better livability of the cities and leading to the reduction of traffic, it should be considered with particular attention.
With a view to converting to e-mobility, automakers must therefore try to increase their revenues, trying to aim to offer in first person the most profitable and best services, those services which may be more successful among the population. Of fundamental importance is also the way in which these services are provided, the delivery system, therefore the role played by staff, by customers themselves and by the image of car manufacturers. All these elements, if managed in the right way, would create a perfect service management system, but the theme is much more complex than it seems and if more and more car companies will succeed one day in this venture, the advent of electric mobility will be finally close at hand.
