Riassunto analitico
The aim of this thesis is to present a workflow, supported by computational results, for the optimization of the bowl geometry of heavy-duty Diesel engine. The optimization process is based on the software CAESES, while the computational solutions are left to Star-CD to be solved. The optimization objective is to lower the pollutant emissions, especially SOOT and NOx, while using a low computational demanding mesh. A big part of the setup of CAESES and script writing is used to combine the optimizer (CAESES) with the solver (Star-CD) in order to have a fully automated process.
